- What it does
- Ironclad is enterprise contract-lifecycle software for in-house legal, sales, procurement, and HR. It sits on your templates, playbooks, Salesforce or Coupa records, and Microsoft Word — not on Westlaw, Lexis, or a law-firm matter CMS. Legal encodes positions in Workflow Designer; business users launch from CRM or forms; Jurist first-pass redlines counterparty paper against those playbooks inside Word; approvals route; Ironclad Signature, Clickwrap, DocuSign, or Adobe Sign captures assent; executed files land in a repository with Smart Import extraction you still verify. Clickwrap (formerly PactSafe) is a separate product for high-volume website terms. Salesforce, Coupa, and API access are add-ons; e-sign and cloud-storage connectors ship with CLM. Pricing is quote-only (confirm with Ironclad). Not practice management, not litigation, and not a published-seat Word add-in. Lawyer review of playbook exceptions still sits with you.
- Fit
- Corporate legal ops and general counsel at mid-market and enterprise companies that already run Salesforce or Coupa and want NDAs, MSAs, vendor paper, and HR agreements to leave legal's queue without losing playbook control. Teams with a named workflow owner who will live in Workflow Designer.
- Not a fit
- Plaintiff PI, litigation files, or owner-led firms that need Clio write-back and a published seat price. Not Harvey or CoCounsel research. A one-person in-house desk without time to own Workflow Designer and metadata should skip — operators report implementation and repository search as ongoing work, not a weekend install. Teams that only need e-sign or a folder of PDFs do not need this stack.
