CoCounsel (Thomson Reuters)
Westlaw-backed legal AI assistant for research and drafting.
Toronto, Canada · Founded 2013 · Thomson Reuters
- What it does
- Runs agentic workflows grounded in Westlaw case law, Practical Law guidance and an organisation's own documents. Deep Research works a legal question step by step and returns cited analysis. Tabular Analysis answers up to 100 questions across as many as 10,000 documents at once in a table. Litigation Document Analyzer extracts facts, flags issues and links findings to source documents. Westlaw Brief Builder constructs briefs from issue framing through argument structure. Also covers drafting in Word, contract playbooks, policy compliance and deposition preparation.
- Fit
- Firms and departments already paying for Westlaw or Practical Law, where the value is AI grounded in content they license rather than a model reasoning from the open web.
- Not a fit
- Nothing addresses plaintiff-side intake, lead handling, medical records or lien workflows, or practice management. Value depends on the Westlaw and Practical Law subscriptions, so a firm outside that stack gets a thinner product.
- Audience / pricing
- Firms already in the Thomson Reuters stack. Subscription via Thomson Reuters (confirm current packaging).
