Search US state trial court dockets, rulings, and judge analytics from one desk.

Los Angeles, California

Trellis

What it does
Trellis makes US state trial court records searchable so you can research how a named judge, opposing attorney, or county actually handles the motion you are about to file. You search dockets, filings, rulings, motions, and verdicts from one interface instead of county portals. Coverage lists 44 states plus DC plus some federal and bankruptcy courts; county depth, verdicts, and PDFs vary, and many documents are a paid fetch. Self-serve plans on the vendor pricing page are one-state (California on the public table) with a monthly content-view cap; all-state search is the firm or corporate tier. On that corpus: Judge Analytics, Attorney Analysis, Case Strategy Reports, alerts, Trellis Chat, and Trellis AI (document chat; California-first motion drafting). Vendor-named connectors: ChatGPT, Claude, and a trial-court API with PACER in API V2. It is not Westlaw or Lexis, not practice management, and not e-discovery or CLM. Trellis AI is off on family matters. You still open the linked ruling before you file.
Fit
State-court litigators, knowledge-management teams, and insurance or in-house desks that try cases in county trial courts and need grant rates, sample pleadings, and opposing-counsel history for a named judge. Strongest where the coverage table shows documents, verdicts, and analytics, especially California, and for TX, NY, and FL shops that already check the county. Fits operators who want Claude or ChatGPT grounded in Trellis trial-court records rather than a general model.
Not a fit
Appellate-heavy or published-law research desks: Westlaw, Lexis, and vLex already cover that job. Skip if your counties are thin on the coverage table, you need all-state search on a self-serve seat, or you practice family law and expected AI on those files (vendor: AI off on family). Not a contract, e-discovery, or matter-management system, and it does not write back to Clio. Content-view caps and per-document purchases will frustrate high-volume shops. Analytics and AI drafts are starting points, not a filed brief.
