- What it does
- Clio Work is Clio's workspace for cited research and first drafts. It is not Clio Duo. Deadline extraction, invoice drafts, and matter admin from Duo now sit in Clio Manage as Manage AI. Upload documents or recordings, or connect Clio Manage so Work reads the matter file and files finished work back. It surfaces facts, risks, and a timeline, then researches Clio Library: a vendor-stated set of over one billion documents, not Westlaw or Lexis. Each cite links to its source and is checked by Cert, Clio's citator. Drafts include memos, motions, summaries, and client updates, including in Microsoft Word through Clio for Word. One prompt can run a multi-step task; the lawyer can interrupt the trace. Clio Docket, for eligible U.S. Work customers, adds court-filing search and docket alerts, and coverage varies by court. The lawyer still reviews cites and drafts before filing or sending. It is not Vincent by Clio, and it is not a contract-lifecycle system.
- Fit
- Small and mid-size litigation or transactional firms that want matter-file analysis and cited research in one workspace. Strongest when the firm already runs Clio Manage or Clio Grow and wants write-back instead of a separate research login. Also fits a firm that will upload documents and use Work on its own.
- Not a fit
- Skip it if you need a published per-user price before a trial. Skip it if your research standard is Westlaw or Lexis and you will not work from Clio Library. Large-firm teams evaluating Vincent by Clio or Clio Operate are looking at a different product. Enterprise contract-lifecycle buyers who need playbooks, approval routing, and a repository will not get that here. Plaintiff shops that want an outsourced demand or medical-chronology product should use a demand tool instead. Do not expect Manage AI, the old Duo surface, to extract deadlines or draft invoices inside Work.
