Relativity

What it does
RelativityOne is Azure-hosted e-discovery software. You collect ESI into a workspace — vendor-named Collect sources include Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, iManage, Box, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude Enterprise, Gemini, and Cellebrite — then process, search, code, redact, produce, and run legal hold against that corpus, not against Westlaw, Lexis, or a practice-management system. The aiR suite sits inside RelativityOne: aiR for Review, aiR for Privilege, aiR for Case Strategy, aiR for Data Breach Response, and aiR Assist for conversational Q&A with document-level citations. Relativity Contracts and Relativity FOIA are separate modules. RelativityOne Government is FedRAMP on Azure Government. App Hub distributes third-party apps; RelativityOne MCP exposes capabilities to MCP clients. Pricing is quote-only (pay-as-you-go or one- or three-year commit). The vendor states aiR for Review, Privilege, and Case Strategy are included in RelativityOne packaging; some aiR usage may consume aiR Units (confirm with Relativity). Reviewers still validate coding, privilege, and cites. Not Clio write-back and not a published-law research product.
Fit
Litigation, investigations, and e-discovery service-provider teams at mid-size to Am Law firms, corporations, and government agencies running real discovery volume — including FedRAMP RelativityOne Government — who already have a review desk and Relativity-trained staff, and whose matters are large enough that customizable workspaces, App Hub, and defensible validation actually matter. Fits shops collecting from Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or Slack into Relativity rather than reviewing in a lighter lawyer-facing cloud.
Not a fit
Owner-led PI, transactional, intake, or practice-management shops. Skip if your matters stay small or occasional: there is no published self-serve SKU, and operators on practitioner forums describe a steep learning curve and extra clicks versus lighter cloud review tools for simple imports and productions. aiR is not a published-law research product; you still QC relevance, privilege, and citations. Not month-to-month DIY review software.
